LAP-BAND Patient Dan, lost 170 lbs
Growing up my activities kept me in shape and my weight down. When I got out of school I got out of sports, other priorities took over my life and the weight piled on. I tried all the fad diets, most with little or no success. I then I learned about the Lap-Band System. At first I had trouble believing that with the Lap-Band the weight would not come back, that it was not a diet but a tool, and that I was in total control of my weight loss. I've hit my goal and am down 170 lbs! The LAP-BAND is still there to help me maintain my weight loss for the rest of my life. As a bonus, all the sports and family activities I had missed out on for over 20 years are back within my reach and there is nothing I can't experience with my children. The Lap-Band has given me my life back. It had been so long I had almost forgotten. |

LAP-BAND Surgeon and Patient Dr. G., lost 105 lbs
"I have been a general surgeon for 20 years and started doing LAP-BAND surgery around the same time that I got my own LAP-BAND - in October 2002. After this minimally invasive procedure, I was back at home the next day and was able to resume operating 2 days later. It is absolutely magnificent to see a patient taking six pills a day, and, within a matter of a couple of weeks, see them come back to the office taking no medication. It is the first time in my medical career as a surgeon where I can truly cure a chronic medical disease." |

LAP-BAND Patient Tess, lost 161 lbs
The stigma that comes with being overweight in our society is very sad but very real; I felt that stigma every day. But my self-image wasn't the only thing suffering - so was my health. I was developing high blood pressure, sleep apnea and was practically immobile. I chose the LAP-BAND System because it was the least invasive surgery and it was a tool that would teach me to eat well and take better care of myself. I needed to lose the weight slowly and learn to make lifestyle changes. I've lost 159 pounds, have no standing health problems and am even training for a marathon. My social life and occupational life have improved and I no longer feel restricted by my weight. I am now the woman I was made to be. |
